Advanced Palliative Practice Skills – APPS

The Advanced Palliative Practice Skills (APPS) program includes up-to-date, best practice and evidence-informed palliative care knowledge, utilizing the innovative Partnering for Palliative Education learning environment, powered by D2L Brightspace.
This 8-week course builds upon the Fundamentals of HPC Program, and focuses on the PSW’s scope of practice relating to the foundational concepts of HPC. Participants will learn/develop skills and strategies for:
- enhancing communication with the person, family, and team members
- effective team functioning and self-care
- relieving common end-of-life symptoms

Pre-Requisites:
- Learners must:
- be a PSW or Health Care Aide
- have completed Fundamentals of HPC or Equivalent within the past five years. – proof is required.

Course Availability & Registration Information
- On the Course Start Date, you will be contacted by Brightspace with instructions for logging into the learning platform.
- Between the Course Start Date and the first classroom session, learners are expected to log into the learning platform and to complete their course readings and activities in preparation for CS 1
