About Enhanced

The Enhanced course is a case-based learning session, which follows the successful completion of the Fundamentals course, and focuses on Assessment and Pharmacology.

Fundamentals Enhanced is a prerequisite for the CAPCE Program. Not all learners will go on to take the CAPCE program, however this is an opportunity to learn more about the role of the CAPCE Resource Nurse.

Audience: The Enhanced Program is intended for Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses and Nurse Practitioners with an interest in developing their capacity related to hospice palliative care in a clinical setting.

Objectives:

  • To provide support and guidance for nurses to utilize their skills and palliative knowledge more effectively
  • To learn from the experiences of practiced hospice palliative care leaders in a relaxed, safe and informal learning environment
  • To discuss possible future learning opportunities

Other things to Note:

  • To participate in Fundamentals Enhanced, the learner must have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Hospice Palliative Care Program (Classic or Core) prior to the start of the Enhanced  program.
  • Applicants who have completed the “Classic” (8-session) Fundamentals HPC program (before September 2015), will require additional reading materials for the Enhanced stream, which will be provided at no cost.
  • Applicants will be asked to provide proof that they have completed the Fundamentals of HPC program.
